Safe, Clinician-Led Whitening

While many high-street products promise results, professional whitening remains the only safe and effective way to significantly lighten the shade of your teeth. At we provide treatments that are regulated and supervised by dental professionals, ensuring that your tooth enamel and gum health are never compromised.

We use a bespoke approach involving custom-fit whitening trays. These trays are created from a precise impression of your mouth, ensuring the whitening gel stays in direct contact with your teeth and away from your sensitive gums. Over the course of 1-2 weeks, you will notice a gradual, beautiful lift in the brightness of your smile, removing deep-set stains caused by tea, coffee, red wine, or tobacco.

Long-Lasting Results

One of the greatest benefits of our professional system is that you can “top up” your results whenever you like. By keeping your custom trays and purchasing additional gel from our practice, you can maintain your bright smile for years to come.

01

Is teeth whitening safe?

Teeth whitening is regulated as a cosmetic product in the UK and Europe and must adhere to UK and EU Cosmetic Regulations. These dictate that the concentration of hydrogen peroxide cannot exceed 6% by weight in professional whitening solutions.

At 6% strength, professional tooth whitening is very safe when used under the supervision of a dentist. Boutique Whitening is registered with the UK and EU Cosmetics Portals and has been cleared by an EU assessor as safe to use.

02

Does teeth whitening cause damage to teeth?

The short answer is that the hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide used in Boutique Whitening—which we provide here at our surgery—will most definitely NOT harm your teeth.

03

Will teeth whitening lighten the colour of veneers, crowns and fillings?

Teeth whitening only affects natural teeth; it will not lighten existing dental work. Please be aware that you may need to replace crowns, veneers, or fillings after your treatment to match your new, brighter shade. You should discuss this with your dentist before beginning treatment to ensure you are fully aware of the associated costs and additional appointments that may be required.

04

Can I have my teeth whitening done at the local hairdressers or beauty salon?

Absolutely not. There are several reasons why this is a dangerous idea. Teeth whitening is an act of dentistry and must only be performed by a dentist—or by appropriately qualified professionals under a dentist’s supervision. You must have a comprehensive dental examination prior to teeth whitening, which cannot be performed by hairdressers or beauticians.

Any underlying oral health conditions must be rectified prior to treatment; beauticians are not qualified to understand the clinical implications of these conditions. You should never take such risks with your health. The peroxides used by dentists are strictly monitored and applied in a way that ensures maximum benefit with little to no adverse effects.

By allowing unqualified individuals with no knowledge of chemistry or dentistry to work in your mouth, you are risking chemical burns, scarring, and permanent disfigurement.

Who should not have tooth whitening?

  • If teeth are already at an acceptable shade, treatment may not be necessary. This remains a subjective decision between the clinician and the patient.
  • Composite materials blended with natural tooth structure will not lighten. These may require replacement post-whitening; if a patient’s restorative needs are extensive, whitening may not be advisable.
  • Crowns and veneers will not lighten and may require replacement after treatment to match the new shade. Patients must be informed of the associated costs and procedures prior to whitening to ensure informed consent.
  • Treatment is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women.
  • Whitening is not suitable for patients who are unable or unwilling to follow the prescribed treatment protocol.
  • Patients must understand the limitations of whitening to avoid dissatisfaction with the final result.
  • Whitening is less effective for patients with exposed root surfaces, as cementum does not respond to whitening agents.
