- Conservation of Tooth Structure: Composite bonds chemically to the tooth. This means we don’t have to drill away as much healthy tooth as we would for a silver filling.
- Reduced Sensitivity: Metal conducts heat and cold quickly, which can lead to sensitivity. Composite resin is a poor conductor, making it much more comfortable for daily eating and drinking.

Replacing Old Silver Fillings
Many of our patients choose to replace their old, darkened amalgam fillings with cosmetic white ones. This not only "cleans up" the look of the smile but allows us to check for any new decay that may have hidden under the edges of the old metal fillings, which might be undetectable on x-rays due to massive metal amalgam which does not transmit radiation.
